The world we live in today and the situations we see around us, tells us we need God, the world struggles with the gospel by trying to bargain its way to God or takes offensive at its simplicity. But the only way to eternal life and to fulfilment in this life is surrender to God.
We serve a God who specialises in doing a lot with a little. God doesn’t ask what do you want or what do you need, it’s what do you have, but we often look at what we have and think if I had more I could do more. Stop waiting for what you want and start working with what you have.
Only God could do this, but he wanted the three kings and their troops to dig a ditch. Some of us have a significant need in our life, today let that need drive you to God and to ridiculous faith. To dig ditches, start small and believe big.
Our challenge is, if we’re going to live lives of ridiculous faith, it starts with ridiculous commitment. Declaring that nothing’s going to hold us back, we’re going to burn our ploughs and we probably won’t know all the details but we step forward.
This time challenges us to live with uncertainty and questions and that’s a good thing. Life is full of uncertainty and so is Christianity, on the cross even Jesus asked why have you forsaken me?
