The Wounded Healer – Part 2

This week Mark Waterfield continued our series about The Good Samaritan.

We looked at the Priest, the Levite and the Samaritan’s reaction to the beaten traveler.

Priest/Levite

Superior, both believe themselves superior to the beaten man.
Ignore, both saw the man but pretended not to see him
Excuses,  both had legitimate excuses not to help the beaten man.

There is a temptation for us to be like the Priest/Levite as it is more comfortable for us.

Samaritain

Compassion – He had compassion for the traveller
Action – He went to him, his compassion led him to action
Sacrifice – Gave his money/time to help

All of these things Jesus has also done for us.

Jesus had compassion for us, which led him to come from heaven to earth and sacrifice himself, on the cross, so that we can be forgiven.

Daily, we have a choice, we can choose to be like the Priest/Levite or we can be like Jesus.

Which will you choose?
